Well we just completed our investigation of Moore House in Carleton Place, Ontario. It was a great experience, made all the better by the support and participation of the Carleton Place Chamber of Commerce, and Tara Gesner from Metroland Media East. We have a lot of content to sift through over the coming weeks and we look forward to posting our conclusions based on the evidence collected. If you are ever out in Lanark County, Moore House is definitely worth a visit. "When you knock on the Devil's door, you never know who is going to answer." - Bishop Plato Angelakis Photo CreditOriginally built in 1850 by JP Moore, on land given to him by his father, Moore House is a beautifully constructed, two story log-style home that JP Moore had hoped would become the generational home for his family to have a long, and prosperous future. Unfortunately it was not to be. In 1900, at the age of 20, JP's daughter, Ida, passed away in the house after contracting tuberculosis. Ida Moore was a promising musician, being quite adept on the piano. She had plans to go onto music school and possibly become a teacher. When she passed away she was burried in the Moore family plot on the outskirts of town. Although Ida's body has been at rest for 117 years, her spirit never moved on, and she is said to still haunt the Moore House to this day. After the Moore family eventually vacated the house, it became the town's general store. It was during this time that the stories surrounding the alleged haunting began to circulate around town. Employees of the store did not like being left alone in the building because of the strange occurrences that would happen. Objects would move on their own, doors and windows would randomly open and shut without explanation, the radio would turn on and off, and people would often hear footsteps pacing up and down the second floor of the building. Ida's spirit seemed to be more of a jokester than a malevolent spirt, and it is said that she has a tendency to mess with young men specifically who are inside the building alone. The building was eventually donated to Carleton Place Township in 2006, and it was moved to its current location in 2007. It now serves as a CP municipal building. Though it has seen its share of owners, and uses over the last 167 years, Ida's spirit has remained the one concrete constant, seemingly stuck in perpetual limbo in her family home. OPRI is pleased to announce that we will be doing a formal investigation of Moore House in the coming weeks. We would like to thank the Carleton Place Chamber of Commerce, and Jackie Kavanagh for working with us to make this happen. We will post the results of the investigation once it has been completed, and we have had a chance to go through the evidence. No photograph of the ghost of Ida Moore has ever been captured, we hope to be the first. - Happy Haunting, OPRI Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from all of us here at Ottawa Paranormal Research and Investigations. This Eastern Ontario Paracon speaker is a close friend, and Ottawa Paranormal Research & Investigations team mate, Bishop, and ordained exorcist Plato Angelakis. Bishop Plato has helped our team on countless cases dealing with extreme paranormal activity and we are glad to have him speak about demonology. Plato Angelikas became an ordained Orthodox Catholic priest with the Oblates of St. Therese in Wisconsin in 1999, and independent priest of the Old Roman Catholic Rite. He was instituted as a cannon with the Anglican Missionary Society of the Americas in 2005, and had been an active member of the American Association of Exorcists since 2013. He is a certified and registered Exorcist, Deliverance Minister, and an advanced Practice/Registered Demonologist. Bishop Plato has teaching credentials as an instructor at Agape Christian University at Choctaw. He is also a Consecrated Bishop with the Mexican National Catholic Church. Presently Plato presides as the Archbishop of The Holy Order of Saint Micheal The Archangel, the Mexican National Catholic Church in Canada. He has been an Exorcist in communion with The Sacred Order of Saint Micheal the Archangel In California, since 2013. As a member of the Ottawa Paranormal Research & Investigation Team, he works to give help to those afflicted by paranormal phenomenon in any way he can. Plato consults with paranormal societies around the world and lives in Northern Ontario with his family. You may have heard this speaker at the 2015 Rose City Paracon, or recognize him from his appearances on the Ottawa Paranormal Project or Paranormal Survivor. We are happy to introduce the founder of Ottawa Paranormal Research & Investigations, John Moore. John has been investigating, and researching the paranormal since 1995. His first experiences occurred in his family’s funeral home when I was eight years old. He saw an apparition that was later identified to be his great-grandfather who died three months after he was born. Over the years he has had countless encounters with paranormal activity, and has worked with number of different groups, and as a freelance investigator. In the summer or 2014 he decided to form Ottawa Paranormal Research & Investigations (OPRI) because he was tired of being on teams that were trying to imitate those you would see on television. John uses his extensive knowledge, and varrying experiences to help those afflicted by extreme paranormal activity. He is considered by some a demonologist though first and foremost, he prefers to think of himself as a paranormal investigator. In addition to being the Lead Investigator for OPRI, John is the Director of Demonic Investigation for the Haunted North America Network, as well as Director of Assessment and Investigation for the Holy Order of Saint Micheal The Arch Angel. He have spent years developing a network of likeminded individuals and groups across North America and beyond to help anyone, anywhere that contacts him in need of assistance. As we all know the #paranormal is about more than just ghosts and spirits. Also the Lanark Highlands and #Ottawa Valley have a long history of lights in the sky and #UFO sightings. We at Ottawa Paranormal Research and Investigations get calls from time to time regarding these phenomenon but know that there are those out there better equiped to handle them. With that we are happy to announce our next speaker MUFON investigator, Author and our good friend Bob Mitche...ll. For those who don't know him here is his bio. Bob Mitchell is a Canadian author and journalist, who covered crime and sports for The Toronto Star for more than 35 years. He’s the author of eight books, including four UFO books. Since leaving mainstream journalism he has been immersed in the high strangeness world of Alien encounters and has appeared on dozens of late-night radio shows, including Coast to Coast and Fade to Black, talking about his books and the incredible first-hand stories of the Experiencers he has interviewed. His latest book – co-written with Jason Quitt – “Forbidden Knowledge-Revelations of a multi-dimensional time traveler” has been among the top 5 UFO books on Amazon since its release in late March 2016. He is also the author of “What if? Close Encounters of the Unusual Kind” as well as “Intrusion-Alien Encounters” and “Incident at Pleasant Ridge-A Canadian UFO Mystery.” One of his true crime books – “The Class Project-How to Kill a Mother,” the story of Canada’s infamous Bathtub Girls was turned into the movie “Perfect Sisters” starring Abigail Breslin, Georgie Henley and Mira Sorvino. Mitchell is also one of the organizers of the Alien Cosmic Expo in Brantford, Ontario. |
