Well, we did it again. During our investigation of the Moore House in Carleton Place, Ontario - which also acts as the Carleton Place Chamber of Commerce, we invited Tara Gesner from Metroland Media East and www.insideottawavalley.com to join us for our Friday the 13th ghost hunt.

Tara bravely sat through the entire investigation with us, and even took some time to participate in an EVP session/Ghost box session.

Check out her article for Inside Ottawa Valley here: http://bit.ly/2j8rp3B

Tara will also be doing a follow up piece once we have had the chance to go through all of the evidence we collected.

Our investigation of Moore House has made an appearance on the Ottawa Citizen online. AMANDA VAN FRANKFOORT and BRITTANY VAN FRANKFOORT stopped by to check out what we were doing and recorded some of their own footage. Check out our fearless leader John Moore answer questions on camera about the equipment we use.

Check out the link below, and watch the video provided as part of the story.

Well we just completed our investigation of Moore House in Carleton Place, Ontario. It was a great experience, made all the better by the support and participation of the Carleton Place Chamber of Commerce, and Tara Gesner from Metroland Media East.

We have a lot of content to sift through over the coming weeks and we look forward to posting our conclusions based on the evidence collected. If you are ever out in Lanark County, Moore House is definitely worth a visit.

Moore House - Carleton Place, Ontario

Photo CreditOriginally built in 1850 by JP Moore, on land given to him by his father, Moore House is a beautifully constructed, two story log-style home that JP Moore had hoped would become the generational home for his family to have a long, and prosperous future. Unfortunately it was not to be. In 1900, at the age of 20, JP's daughter, Ida, passed away in the house after contracting tuberculosis.

Ida Moore was a promising musician, being quite adept on the piano. She had plans to go onto music school and possibly become a teacher. When she passed away she was burried in the Moore family plot on the outskirts of town. Although Ida's body has been at rest for 117 years, her spirit never moved on, and she is said to still haunt the Moore House to this day.

After the Moore family eventually vacated the house, it became the town's general store. It was during this time that the stories surrounding the alleged haunting began to circulate around town. Employees of the store did not like being left alone in the building because of the strange occurrences that would happen. Objects would move on their own, doors and windows would randomly open and shut without explanation, the radio would turn on and off, and people would often hear footsteps pacing up and down the second floor of the building. Ida's spirit seemed to be more of a jokester than a malevolent spirt, and it is said that she has a tendency to mess with young men specifically who are inside the building alone.

The building was eventually donated to Carleton Place Township in 2006, and it was moved to its current location in 2007. It now serves as a CP municipal building. Though it has seen its share of owners, and uses over the last 167 years, Ida's spirit has remained the one concrete constant, seemingly stuck in perpetual limbo in her family home.

OPRI is pleased to announce that we will be doing a formal investigation of Moore House in the coming weeks. We would like to thank the Carleton Place Chamber of Commerce, and Jackie Kavanagh for working with us to make this happen. We will post the results of the investigation once it has been completed, and we have had a chance to go through the evidence.

No photograph of the ghost of Ida Moore has ever been captured, we hope to be the first.
